Employment Opportunities that Work!

Arc of Iberia provides vocational training and employment opportunities for individuals with developmental disabilities. Arc of Iberia is committed to the development of people with disabilities to higher levels of living through work oriented services and employment in an environment which contributes to their growth and self-sufficiency.

The employment service program is designed to train individuals and provide them with valuable employment skills, so they may pursue their employment goals. Establishing small business enterprises in the retail and services markets that are owned and operated by Arc of Iberia has been fundamental in providing meaningful training and employment opportunities.

Building strong relationships with local business owners and managers is also key to Arc’s success in creating greater opportunities for individuals with disabilities to pursue a variety of employment choices.

Ready, Get Set, GO!

Arc works with cognitively, physically and socially disabled individuals toward developing their full potential by strengthening their economic base through:

  • Individual community job placement with training and support
  • Small business Enterprises, which include resale clothing stores in Iberia, St. Martin, Lafayette and St. Landry parishes and a specialty gift shop.
  • Facility based and contract area employing individuals who fulfill contracts for assembly work, labeling, packaging and document shredding and rag business.
  • Mobile work crew offering the following services:  janitorial, park maintenance recycling and lawn maintenance.

Work Readiness

Arc of Iberia’s Work Readiness Program is designed to prepare students for the transition from high school to the work force.  We have an employment specialist on staff that has set the course for these students to succeed in the work community once they have received their certificate of achievement.  The work readiness program has an established classroom in the high school and the course is set into the student’s daily curriculum.  Once the student completes the course, the employment specialist then goes into the community with the student to look for a job placement. Arc of Iberia is currently serving 10 students per school year and has been successful in the job placement of these students.
